Neubrandenburg Unearthed

The German local workshop on cultural influences involves youngsters in the discovery of colonial tracks in Neubrandenburg, a small city in the northeastern countryside of Germany. The pax investigate their colonial past by creating short films, questioning: Where are the traces of their colonial history within the city?

There are many stories to detect like the one of the black captives jailed in the prisoner camp “Fünfeichen” during the Second World War or the story of Dr. Bernhard Funk, a man who lived several years in Samoa and who donated many cultural artifacts to the regional museum before he died.
After the collection of interviews and photo or other film material they recorded, they will be asked to conclude their findings in 100 second films.

The film sequences will all together provide a short impression of Neubrandenburg’s colonial past.
